From Pain to Power: Women Unite to Break the Silence on Violence”

29 November 2025

We proudly supported a powerful event organised by Riaz Gull the founder of Sharifa Ibrahim Foundation, co-sponsored by Leverage Security and International Professional Security Association (IPSA). It was an evening filled with courage, honesty and an unshakeable call for change.

Every woman on that stage shared a piece of her journey — stories scarred by bullying, silencing, discouragement, survival, and heartbreaking loss. Some were survivors of abuse. Others were sisters of the women who didn’t survive — women who were taken too soon, murdered for simply existing. Writing this today makes my hands shake, but it strengthens my resolve. It trembles my heart, but it raises my voice.

This must change. Now.

The event opened with the powerful beat of the dhol, setting the perfect energy to welcome a wave of transformation. And from that moment, the atmosphere shifted.

Nourine S Noor held up a mirror to reality, reminding us of the truths we can no longer ignore.
Payzee Mahmod shook our souls with her raw honesty and unmatched courage.
Satia Rai DIR.IPSA F.ISRM MSyl awakened our minds to action, proving that awareness without movement means nothing.
Saiqa Akbar gave voice to mothers everywhere, speaking with a depth that resonated through the room.
Tami Blay brought to life the everyday experiences of professionals, showing us the resilience women carry into every workspace.
And Harpreet Kaur led the way, opening doors to limitless solutions and inspiring belief in what is possible.

In a single evening, we lived through centuries of pain, strength, resilience and hope — all from one stage. That is the power of Sharifa Ibrahim Foundation SIF’s Women’s Day.

Let’s keep the momentum going.
Let’s keep the feelings alive.
Let’s keep the actions building.
Let’s keep the impact visible.
Let’s light the path for the generations to come.
Let’s uplift other women.
Let’s stand together.
Let’s stand tall.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
- a global call to action that none of us can afford to ignore.
LS - 25 Nov post.jpg

Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women - a global call to action that none of us can afford to ignore.

At Leverage Security, we are co-sponsoring a dedicated awareness event in recognition of this important day, standing alongside partners, allies and colleagues in reaffirming our commitment to creating safe environments for women (along with every gender) everywhere. The event is organised by Sharifa Ibrahim Foundation.

As an active member of the Employers' Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA), we recognise that workplaces play a crucial role in supporting those affected by domestic abuse. The responsibility does not rest solely with specialist organisations, it rests with all of us.

Every employer, every team and every leader has the power to make a difference.

Today, we are asking our network to take three meaningful actions:

🔸 Pause and reflect:

Acknowledge the reality that millions of women experience violence, often silently and without support.

🔸 Learn and share:

Equip yourself and your colleagues with the knowledge to recognise the signs of domestic abuse and respond safely.

🔸 Commit to change:

Advocate for policies, resources and culture that protect and empower women along with every gender within your organisation and beyond.

By using our collective voice, we can amplify awareness, challenge stigma, and foster workplaces where safety, dignity and respect are non-negotiable.

International Men’s Day Calls for Compassion, Courage and Open Conversations
Amid Unseen Challenges Facing Men
Mens day.jpg

Today, on International Men’s Day, we are taking a moment to reflect on the men in our lives - colleague, friend, father, brother, son, mentor - who show up with strength, kindness and quiet resilience.

This day isn’t about celebrating perfection. It’s about acknowledging the real experiences men face: the pressure to stay strong, the unspoken expectations, the moments of struggle that often go unnoticed.

It’s also about recognising the importance of men’s mental and physical wellbeing. Too many still feel they must carry difficulties alone. If there’s one message worth amplifying today, it’s this:

"Seeking support is a sign of courage, not weakness."

To all the men who lead with empathy, who support others, who show up even when the world tells them to stay silent - thank you. Your presence matters more than you may realise.

Let’s continue creating workplaces and communities where men feel able to speak openly, ask for help, and be valued not just for what they do, but for who they are.

Here’s to healthier conversations, genuine connection and a more compassionate future, for everyone.

At Leverage Security, we stand firmly alongside those who are leading this change. The security sector has a crucial role to play, through awareness, education and collaboration,  in shaping safer environments and stronger, more inclusive communities.

Our organisation remains steadfast in its commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and real, measurable action that drives positive change.

We invite our peers and partners to reflect and act:
How is your organisation contributing to gender equality and safety?

Leverage Security Supports Petition to Protect Security Workers

Leverage Security is proud to support the parliamentary petition to make assaulting a security worker a standalone criminal offence.

Security professionals play a vital role in keeping people, venues, and businesses safe, yet they currently do not receive the same legal protections as other frontline workers. This petition calls for stronger legislation to recognise the risks security officers face and to ensure greater deterrence against assaults.

By supporting this campaign, Leverage Security reinforces its ongoing commitment to protecting our people and raising awareness of the challenges faced by those on the frontline.

Leverage Security COO Makes History at LGBTQ+ Defence Awards

satia winner .jpg

London, UK — Leverage Security is proud to announce a landmark moment for both the company and the wider private security sector, following the recognition of its Chief Operating Officer, Satia Rai F.ISRM DIR.IPSA, as Trailblazer of the Year at the prestigious LGBTQ+ Defence Awards.

The national honour marks a historic first: Satia Rai is the first individual from the private security industry to receive this award, shining a spotlight on a sector that traditionally operates behind the scenes.

With a career spanning nearly three decades, Satia Rai’s journey began on the frontline as a security officer. Through resilience, authenticity and principled leadership, she has risen to one of the most senior operational roles within the industry. Her recognition reflects not only professional excellence, but a steadfast commitment to driving cultural change and inclusion across the security landscape.

Speaking through this recognition, the award represents more than an individual achievement. It sends a powerful message that everyone deserves to be seen, heard and valued at work, that authenticity should never be postponed, and that the private security sector must continue to evolve as a place of belonging for all.

Satia Rai’s personal story — taking 25 years to feel safe enough to come out in the workplace — is a poignant reminder of the progress still required, while also celebrating the collective strides made by organisations and individuals committed to equality.

Leverage Security extends its congratulations to Satia Rai F.ISRM DIR.IPSA for this exceptional and well-deserved recognition. Her leadership continues to inspire colleagues across the business and the wider industry.

The company also thanks the organisers of the LGBTQ+ Defence Awards, along with all nominees and winners, for championing visibility, representation and meaningful change.

As Leverage Security looks to the future, it remains committed to breaking barriers, challenging norms and helping to build a private security sector where everyone belongs.

Leverage COO Satia Rai Shortlisted for 2025 LGBTQ+ Defence Awards

Leverage Security is delighted to announce that our Chief Operating Officer, Satia Rai, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2025 LGBTQ+ Defence Awards.

The Awards, recognised as the UK’s flagship celebration of inclusion in defence, aerospace, and security, honour individuals and organisations driving positive change and representation. Founded in the wake of the UK Government’s 2023 apology to LGBTQ+ veterans affected by the pre-2000 service ban, the event has become a global platform celebrating fairness, respect, and equality in UK Defence.

Satia’s nomination reflects her ongoing leadership, advocacy, and commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment within both Leverage Security and the wider security sector.

The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on 23 September 2025 at the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London, hosted by comedian and broadcaster Zoe Lyons.
We are incredibly proud of Satia’s achievement and extend our congratulations to her and all the finalists.

Keeping Crowds Safe This Summer
Guidance from SIA & NPSA on Venue Entry and Exit

Ingress.png

As we enjoy the summer season and the return of public events, the SIA's Safe Summer Together campaign offers timely reminders for maintaining vigilance, not just for licensed security operatives, but also for venue operators and visitors alike.

Public Safety Is a Team Effort

SIA emphasises that safeguarding public safety relies not only on security professionals but also on the public. Everyone plays a crucial role.

Let’s Work Together to Keep Everyone Safe

Key Actions:

  • Stay Alert and Speak Up
If anything feels amiss while attending an event, speak to a nearby licensed security operative or contact the police immediately. In an emergency, call 999.

  • Access Tools and Visual Assets
Visual assets and messaging are available for media use. Download campaign graphics—including “Security is a team effort,” “See something? Tell security,” and other formats—directly from the SIA toolkit to share across your channels.

  • Refresh Counter‑Terrorism Awareness
Security staff are encouraged to revisit the free ACT (Action Counters Terrorism) e‑learning course available from ProtectUK to stay sharp in threat detection and response.

  • Understand the Safety Context for Entry and Exit Points
The National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) offers detailed guidance on mitigating risks during ingress (entry) and egress (exit) at public venues. This includes identifying vulnerabilities, potential threats, crowding, and practical control measures to manage vulnerability hot‑spots such as ticket gates, search areas, and perimeter exits.

Additional Resources You Need

Honouring the Frontline

Reflections from International Security Officer Day 2025

A Day to Reflect. A Moment to Celebrate.

On 24 July, Leverage Security had the honour of attending International Security Officer Day 2025, hosted by Meta in collaboration with the International Professional Security Association (IPSA) and The Security Institute.

Held at Meta’s Cubitt Square office in London, the event brought together leaders, colleagues, and professionals from across the industry to do something we don't do often enough: pause, look around, and recognise the people who keep our world secure — quietly, constantly, and without the expectation of thanks.

The Unseen Backbone of Safety

Every day, frontline security officers are the first in, last out.
They handle the unpredictable with calm professionalism.
They carry out their work without headlines or applause — just purpose.

At Leverage Security, we know how critical this work is. And on ISOD, it was inspiring to be in a room where that recognition was felt so powerfully.

There were shared stories. Genuine moments of gratitude. A sense of unity across organisations, roles, and ranks — all driven by the same mission: keeping people safe.

A Shared Mission

We want to thank Satia Rai F.ISRM DIR.IPSA for the kind invitation, and IPSA and The Security Institute for organising such a thoughtful and energising day. We also applaud every industry body and organisation that hosted events throughout the week — each one a vital contribution to a growing movement to recognise our frontline workforce.

What Comes Next?

Let’s carry that energy forward — beyond a single day.
Let’s start conversations that lead to better visibility, stronger support, and more opportunities for our frontline teams.

Here’s how we can all play a part:

Say thank you.
Take notice.
Keep the momentum going.

At Leverage Security, our mission is rooted in service; protecting the communities we are entrusted with, every single day.
